About the Recipe
Oat groats are packed with nutrition. Oat groats are the "original" oat - before they become rolled oats or steel cut oats. I love the texture better than normal oatmeal and it is certainly much easier to clean up than oatmeal! Toppings are so easy to mix and match. I often prefer to eat oat groats cold and will eat for breakfast or lunch!
Ingredients
1 cup oat groats
2 cups water
Desired toppings
Banana
Walnuts/Almonds/Pecans
Chia Seed/Flax Seed
Maple Syrup/Honey
Cinnamon
Nut Butter
Preparation
Step 1
The night before, add oat groats and water to a pot. Bring to a boil. (For a slightly different texture, you can bring the water to a boil and then add the oat groats for 1-2 minutes while boiling).
Step 2
Once at a boil, ensure pot is covered and let sit until the morning.
Step 3
In the morning, you can reheat the groats to warm up and help evaporate the remaining water or you can eat cold.
Step 4
Add toppings as desired and enjoy! Store in the fridge.
